’22 Proxy – Grenache

Description

The 2023 Grenache was grown on knobbed and gnarled head trained vines on the Golden Eagle Vineyard in southern Mendocino County. Nestled in an inland valley rimmed by charismatic old growth oaks, the gentle ruggedness of the landscape translates into a politely bridled wine with an undercurrent of wildness. In the nose, the wine offers varietal characteristic aromas of strawberries, blood orange, and saddle leather. In the mouth, the wine’s creamy, mouth-filling tannins are layered with flavors of strawberry jam and red plum, with delicate notes of vanilla and cardamom persisting throughout the lengthy finish.
